Bridging the Gap: The 20-Year Legacy of the Harmon Meadow Shuttle

April, 2026

As one of the first shuttle programs operated by EZ Ride, the Harmon Meadow Shuttle has remained in continuous service for nearly two decades, demonstrating the long-term impact of dependable, community-focused transportation solutions.

Bridging the “Last Mile Gap”

Located just six miles from Secaucus Junction, one of New Jersey’s busiest transit hubs, Harmon Meadow is home to a dynamic mix of more than two-million square feet of office space, seven hotels, more than a dozen restaurants, and one large residential community. Prior to the shuttle’s launch, accessing the station without a car was a significant challenge. Hartz Mountain Industries, in collaboration with EZ Ride, helped bridge that gap. Today, that vision has resulted in a fleet of three shuttle buses that provide high frequency seamless connection between Secaucus Junction and Harmon Meadow.

The impact has been substantial. Ridership has grown steadily over the years, with the shuttle now providing more than 3,500 rides per month. In addition to improving mobility, the service has reduced the need for hundreds of parking spaces, helping ease congestion, and supporting more sustainable transportation options.

A Competitive Edge for Business

Beyond the numbers, the shuttle has become an essential amenity for businesses and property managers. By enhancing access to public transit, it increases the appeal of Harmon Meadow for employers and retail destinations alike making it easier to attract talent, serve customers, and remain competitive in the region.

“Our tenants needed a reliable way for employees, customers, residents, and guests to access public transit. Establishing a strong connection between Harmon Meadow and Secaucus Junction significantly expanded access without relying on cars,” said Sal Gentile, Executive Vice President of Hartz Mountain Industries. “We are very pleased with our 20-year partnership with EZ Ride and look forward to continuing to evolve to better serve our community.”

Over the past 20 years, the Harmon Meadow Shuttle has demonstrated the power of strong public-private partnerships. Funded by Hartz and operated by EZ Ride, the service continues to adapt alongside the community supporting growth, improving mobility, and reinforcing the critical link between transportation and economic vitality. EZ Ride remains proud to deliver a service that not only moves people, but helps communities thrive.
